Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole: A Review

April 10th 2011 11:51

Following my previous post in February, I bought the Legends of The Guardian 3D Blu-Ray DVD from JB HiFi and finally got down to completing the movie this week.

The graphics and the voice-overs were excellent but let down by the weak storyline. The storyline was predictable and lack depth, buoyed by fascinating animation and to be honest, a linear technique in its cinematography.

I had the opportunity to watch it in 3D but it felt as if I was watching a 2D-styled movie. The animation, while detailed, lack depth in camera angles and action. It felt as if any design graduate could have come up with the animation themselves lacking the trained eye of a true professional 'old hand' in the business.

Granted the movie might be targeted at kids, which would change my review completely - it offers great value for audiences under 8.

But for now, it gets a watch it on DVD review from me - one to keep when you have some kids to keep entertained for a few hours.

2 out of 5 stars.
